Paulina Goto is Barbi in Guardián de Mi Vida. Her character is a young woman shaped by tenderness, vulnerability, and a bright sense of hope. We had the opportunity to interview Goto, where she talked about her role, the story, production and the pleasure to work again with Silvia Navarro.
The actress described the experience of joining the production as deeply special from the first day on set. For Goto, the series carries an emotional power rooted in family, love, second chances, and the invisible forces that help guide people through difficult moments. At the center of the story is Barbi, a character she sees as warm, luminous and deeply human.”When I started creating this character, it felt really important to me”, Goto says. “Regarding the arc—a story or a character always has its own journey, right? You start out one way, but the circumstances and everything that unfolds end up shaping you…taking you somewhere else, right? So, the Barbie at the beginning isn’t the same as the one at the end. At first, you might see a much more superficial Barbie—someone who uses social media, fashion, and catchphrases, while also showing that fun, witty, and charming side of her personality”.
Barbi is not just another role in Goto’s career. The character has allowed her to explore a softer emotional space, one filled with innocence, sensitivity, and growth. Through Barbi, Goto enters a story that blends family drama with touches of fantasy and esperanza, creating a world where pain, healing and faith can exist together.
According to Goto, Barbi’s difference lies in her particular kind of vulnerability. She goes through situations that force her to mature, but her strength does not come from hardness. Instead, it comes from her ability to remain oper-hearted. That combination of fragility and inner guerza gives the character a special charm.
Barbi’s peresonality is described as bright, dreamy, authentic, and full of noble intentions. She sees the world with illusion and innocence, but also carries more strength than people may first notice. That balance makes her both cercana and empathetic, a character who can connect with audiences through emotion rather than spectacle.
The production environment has also played an important role in shaping the character. Goto highlighted the cariño and compañerismo among the cast and crew, noting that the atmosphere on set has been warm and collaborative. Working with a committed and talented team helped the creative process flow naturally, allowing each scene to feel supported by trust and shared purpose.
A major part of that experience has been working alongside Sylvia Navarro. Goto sees Navarro as generous, sensitive, and highly professional, with a unique energy that elevates the work around her. “The truth is, back on Mi corazón es tuyo, there was chemistry and a connection both on and off set because we care about each other so much”, Goto shares. “But I think that we’ve both grown. And we’ve had other experiences as artists. I feel like we’re at a point of greater maturity now. And I feel that—well, when you have more tools, and you’ve grown and lived through more things, it shows in the work, too. So I feel that we were able to pull off some really great scenes. Back then—considering our age and what we were doing—it was good, but I think now we’ve achieved something with much more depth, after so many successful projects that keep motivating you to take on new acting challenges”.
Juan Osorio’s leadership has also guided the tone of the project. As producer, Osorio brings a clear vision of the story he wants to tell while also allowing the actors space a discover and propose ideas. That balance between direction and creative freedom has helped build what Goto described as a family-like environment, something that can be felt throughout the production.
For Goto, Barbi has also offered a personal reminder about the importance of hope. Every character leaves something behind, and Barbi as reconnected her with the value of believing in others, preserving tenderness, and keeping inner light alive. The role touches on emotions that feel familiar and universal, especially with Latino families where love, faith, and resilience often move quietly through everyday life.
Guardián de Mi Vida brings those themes to the screen with a story centered on love, familia, second chances, and spiritual connection. Rather than focusing only on conflict, the series leans into healing and the idea that people are sometimes accompanied by forces they cannot fully explain.
Through Barbi, Paulina Goto adds warmth and emotional sincerity to that message. Her character reflects the kind of hope that does not shout, but stays present. A hope that comforts.
