Miguel Rodarte and Paulina Gaitán have just premiered a new original comedy series,”La Banda”, on ViX. Since July 24, audiences have had the pleasure of discovering this story where ambition and desperation cross the line into crime. Rodarte and Gaitán star in the series, and we had the pleasure of interviewing them on El News Hub. “Honestly, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, both in terms of acting and production,” Rodarte said regarding his role in this dark comedy-drama. “I think the chemistry we achieved among the various cast members was key. It was a unique experience; we developed a very special dynamic—the kind suited to a comedy with such distinctive nuances. “La Banda” brought together the perfect elements to tell this story: a bold comedy that borders on the absurd yet offers a truly fresh perspective. That makes it a deeply rewarding experience.”

“We ended up becoming a family; it’s rare for that to happen on projects, but *La Banda* made it happen,” says Gaytan. “[It brought together] very talented people—not just the actors, but the crew as well. The people behind the scenes were incredibly talented and wonderful. We carry this family in our hearts. We are very happy and proud of the result.”

The story follows Rafael, who is interrogated by Paloma—an enigmatic woman—as the events that led to the formation of “La Banda” are pieced together.

The story follows Rafael, who is supposed to inherit a company.

Víctor Reyes, owner of the company Sanitarios Reyes, names Rafael his successor and reveals his intention to leave the company to his employees. However, his sudden death and the arrival of his son Andy—an irresponsible heir—jeopardize the future of both the company and the entire community of Valle Soleado. Faced with the threat of losing everything, Rafael betrays his own principles; together with his wife Marcela (who harbors a secret past), Camilo, and Nina, he forms an impromptu criminal gang with a clear objective: to save the company.

What begins as a desperate plan soon spirals into a chain of increasingly dangerous decisions—involving botched kidnappings, robberies, and unexpected alliances—that will change their lives forever. Amidst betrayals, divided loyalties, and constant blunders, the gang faces life-or-death situations where any decision could be their last. Just when all seems lost, a new enemy emerges, forcing them to pull off the biggest and most dangerous heist of their lives.

Gaitán talks about her role. “She has a wonderful relationship with her husband. Marcela is a strong, determined woman—the kind of character one really appreciates… a character driven to get ahead,” says the actress. Rodarte adds that Marcela is the perfect complement to his character, Rafael. “Rafael possesses great nobility and a spirit that seeks to grow into that of a great leader; he has a very paternal outlook and likes to protect the people around him. That gives him great integrity as a human being.”

The cast is led by Miguel Rodarte, Paulina Gaitán, Tessa Ia, and Aldo Escalante, alongside Ochoa, Fernando Bonilla, Aida López, Raúl Briones, Juan Daniel García Treviño, and Martín Saracho, with special appearances by Juan Carlos Colombo and Jesús Ochoa.
