Univision premiered the new season of “Juego de Voces” with a brand-new dynamic “Hermanos y Rivales”. In this latest installment, Angélica Vale returns as the show’s host and told us all about the “siblings rivalry” we are about to witness.
To kick things off, this season features an incredible battle between siblings—members of renowned musical dynasties—who compete to prove that talent runs in the family. The cast includes Alex Fernández and Camila Fernández (children of Alejandro Fernández); José Luis Roma and Raúl Roma of Río Roma; Walo Silva and Esteban Silva of Banda MS; Jorge D’Alessio and Ernesto D’Alessio (children of Lupita D’Alessio); and Mayte Lascurain and Isabel Lascurain of the iconic group Pandora.
Rio Roma & Banda MS
“I’m happy because [in the new season we have] ‘hermanos y rivales’. I’m extremely surprised; and mind you, I actually know many of the “siblings,” Angélica shares with El News Hub. “I think the ones I had the least interaction with were Walo and Esteban; and the guys from Río Roma…but the other three [pairs] are practically family to me. And yet, I am pleasantly surprised by the level of talent on display in this third season.”
Las Pandoras
“As for the Pandoras—Isabel and Maite Lascurain—we’ve known them our whole lives, and we’ve loved them our whole lives. I think the audience feels the exact same way I do,” she shares. “But we’ve never actually seen them on their own. I mean, Isabel, a little bit—yes, in the first season—but we’ve never seen Maite singing solo. And honestly, she was very reluctant to do this season because she kept saying, ‘Me? All alone? Without my sisters…How am I supposed to do that?’ But the truth is, she is absolutely shining right now—and I think that’s exactly what’s happening with all the sibling pairs,” Angélica tells El News Hub.
Alejandro Fernandez’s children
“My kids—Camila and Alex Fernández. It brings me such joy that they are doing this show, because they both sing; the musicality those kids possess is… well, it’s simply indescribable. I mean, obviously, it runs in the dynasty—that goes without saying—but… but the fact that they have this platform to show the world what they’re made of… Oh, it just fills me with emotion,” she shares.
Lupita D’Alessio’s children
“My cousins Jorge and Ernesto D’Alessio… we grew up as cousins, we grew up together, we’re lifelong friends. That’s actually where I get into trouble, because they inevitably drag me into the family…You know how it goes: ‘Who do you love more? Which brother do you prefer? Is it Jorge or Ernesto?’ So, I end up right in the middle of it all, getting dragged into every little squabble—though it’s all very entertaining! And well… my cousins have always been incredibly talented, and—oh—I’m just so happy. Truly, I’m very, very happy,” Angélica says.
Angélica Vale is the host
As the presenter of the show, Angélica says that is hard to get them to quiet down. “They’re not used to me being the leader, right? I mean—well, they have complete confidence in me. So, how could you possibly think the opposite? I mean, come on! Honestly, the stories I have with them are incredible—we’ve known each other our whole lives—so, yeah, they definitely squabble over things.”
But in reality, they love each other—even amidst this musical war. In the first episode, they moved us to tears by exchanging beautiful words. First, Ernesto presented him with a small toy boat and spoke of how wonderful it is to have him as a brother. Meanwhile, Roberto told him how beautiful it is to have him as a brother through thick and thin, and—fighting back tears—he sang “Amigo” by Roberto Carlos to him. All the while, Ernesto applauded and celebrated his brother’s serenade, his own eyes welling up with tears. That emotional moment brought everyone to tears.
Juegos de Voces: Hermanos y Rivales is going to reveal a little bit more about who they are as siblings. In this season, the rivalry is more intense than ever. “Siblings fight, and they love each other. So that back-and-forth, that dynamic—will be an integral part of the show”, Angelica says. “There are moments of wonderful affection between them, but there are also moments of wonderful teasing—or ‘bullying,’ if you will—because the goal is to have you laughing until your stomach hurts. It’s always done with humor—and, crucially, always with deep respect and mutual admiration. From both teams involved, the show is shaping up beautifully; we’re having a blast. I know that sounds like a total cliché, but is true”.
Juego de Voces airs every Sunday at 8:00 p.m., ET, on Univision.
