Latina Stars Bring Hope to Latino Families with No Kid Hungry

More than one latino family in the United States is already worry about how they are going to feed their kids this summer when school ends.“No family should spend the summer worrying about how to feed their children,” said Dayanara Torres in a press release, about becoming part of the national campaign No Kids Hungry. “When school ends, many families face even greater pressure to cover something as basic as daily meals. That is why I am joining No Kid Hungry once again—to help more parents learn about the resources available to feed their children during these months.”

Así es, No Kid Hungry, the national campaign dedicated to ending childhood hunger, is bringing a solution that can change the summer for millions of families- and they are doing it alongside some of the most beloved Latina figures.

Renowned Chef Lorena García, former Miss Dayanara Torres, marathoner and TV host Alejandra Espinoza, actress Jacqueline Bracamontes, and entrepreneur Ximena Duque have joined forces on a powerful mission: to make sure no child goes hungry during summer vacation. “Good nutrition is essential for children to stay active, healthy, and fully enjoy their summer. I know that for many families, this season brings additional challenges, which is why I am happy to once again support No Kid Hungry in helping to connect more communities with vital food resources,” says Lorena García.

The truth is that numbers are alarming but real: one in three parents fears running out of food during the summer. “Summer should be a season for making family memories, not a time of stress and uncertainty. I am excited to collaborate with No Kid Hungry to make a real difference for many families this summer.” Alejandra Espinoza

Unfortunately, the Latino community feels stress – Latino households with children are nearly twice as likely to experience food insecurity compared to white households. “We know that when children are on vacation, many families face additional expenses, and feeding the entire family can become more difficult. That is why it is so important for communities to know that help is available for children during the summer,” commented Ximena Duque.

“Sometimes, something as simple as sharing information can make a huge difference in a family’s life. I am honored to support No Kid Hungry and join this campaign to raise awareness about available resources, and thereby help ensure that more children have access to nutritious food this summer,” noted Jacqueline Bracamontes.
