Luis Fonsi kept his promise. The Puerto Rican singer called back the taxi driver Richy he met in México when he was promoting his new single “Cambiaré”. “Mi gente, las month I was here in México and I met a taxi driver that I honestly had a good time with,” says Fonsi in a video he shared on his social media. “We laughed a lot and I promised him that on my next visit to México, I was going to call him and that he was going to be always my chauffeur because he gave me good luck and great energy. So, I just arrived in México because I have a concert tonight and I called my friend Richy.”
As soon as Richy picked him up, he said to him “that I honestly didn’t think that I was going to see you again”. But Fonsi assured him: “I am a man of my word…you brought me good luck, our video went viral, people loved it. Did you know that you brought me good luck because my song ‘Cambiare’ was number 1 for a couple of weeks here in México, which is hard.”
As a token of appreciation, Fonsi gave him six tickets to his intimate concert. Richy, of course, couldn’t resist and asked him to sing his favorite song. “No Me Doy Por Vencido.”
And that’s when things got hilarious – they strarted singing together, with Richy doing his best to keep up with Fonsi’s voice. Let’s just say…it was not exactly a perfect duet. Fonsi was laughing so hard he told Richy to stick to his day job as a taxi driver.
But Ricky wasn’t done yet – he took the chance to ask for a song by El Recodo, and when he sang it, Fonsi actually told him he sounded better on that one. Then Richy even played another El Recodo song, and Fonsi said, “Yeah, that’s your genre!”
By the end of the ride, they spotted some fans, and Fonsi proudly said, “I’m here with Richy!” And Richy said “I felt important.” You can watch the video.
