Jessica Decote is in Juan Osorio’s new telenovela Guardián de mi vida. The telenovela, which premiered May 29 on ViX. We had the opportunity to interview Jessica and she talked about playing a single mother Marisol Reyes, working with novela legends, and why this project marks a major milestone in her 14-year career.
When Guardián de mi vida premiered, it positioned Univision as the number one Spanish-language network in the United States. For Jessica Decote, being part of this phenomenon is more than just another role- it’s a dream come true. “I feel very excited, and I know this is a big step in my career,” Decote shared in an exclusive interview with ElNewsHug. “I’ve been doing this for 14 years, so I feel, I know this is a project with a great producer who is an expert in melodramas and knows how to reach the audience perfectly. I feel very well taken care of in this production.”
Meet Marisol Reyes
In Guardián de mi vida, Decote brings to life Marisol Reyes, a single mother whose world revolves around her daughter. But Marisol isn’t just a mom – she’s a woman with her own dreams of finding love. “Marisol Reyes is a woman who gives everything for her daughter, a single mother who wants to find love, but she doesn’t make it her life’s purpose in her day-to-day,” Decote explained. “She simply has it planted there, very deep inside, and it arrives. This man arrives, but then they put him in jail, and that’s where the problems begin, where Marisol suffers, and her daughter suffers as a result.”
It’s a storyline that hits close to home for many viewers -a woman trying to balance motherhood, hope, and heartbreak all at once.
A special bond with young co-star Mía Fabri
One of the highlights of Decote’s experience has been working with 9-year-old actress Mía fabri, who plays her daughter. “Working with Mía? Oh, she’s a divine girl who has so much charm. She’s like a young lady – I mean, she’s 9 years old, a child, but in an adult’s body. She’s very professional and very sweet. I consider her a friend; we told each other that. She’s divine,” Decote gushed.
The chemistry the two actresses is palpable on screen, creating one of the most touching mother-daughter relationships in the telenovela.
