Television host Raúl de Molina didn’t like the treatment he received from Christian Nodal and his team during a concert held in the Dominican Republic. According to his account, the singer from Sonora excluded the team from El Gordo y la Flaca from the list of approved media outlets allowed to attend the event.
Visibly upset, the Cuban host shared his frustration over Nodal’s decision, arguing that the entertainment show had supported and covered the artist since the beginning of his music career.
“I don’t understand what these artists think. After I’ve interviewed him countless times, said here that I like him, that I support him, that I’ve always been on his side. Let’s be honest. But if these stories come out, the ones everyone is talking about, then what are we supposed to do? Should El Gordo y la Flaca just ignore them?” he said during the latest broadcast of the Univision show.
Meanwhile, Lili Estefan suggested that the distance between them might be due to outside influence: “Someone told him, ‘Hey, Christian Nodal, don’t talk to El Gordo y la Flaca anymore.’”
Raúl de Molina emphasized that the singer’s change in attitude toward the network began after his marriage and the hiring of a new team: “I’ve cared for him a lot since almost the start of his career, but it really upset me that when he married Ángela Aguilar, he either decided or was told to remove his representative, his publicist, Conchita Paz Oliva,” he said candidly.
The host’s frustration became clear when he added, “And when they need us, they’re the first to call asking us to promote their album.”
Christian Nodal wasn’t the only artist mentioned during Raúl de Molina’s remarks. In fact, he claimed that after the marriage between the singer from Sonora and Ángela Aguilar, he noticed a change in his relationship with the artist’s father.
He suggested that this shift might be linked to the show’s coverage of the controversies involving Nodal and his ex-partner, rapper Cazzu.
“What did I ever do to Pepe Aguilar? I’ve never done anything to him in my life. But yes, Christian Nodal — whom I’ve interviewed twenty times — married his daughter, and that blew up social media. You know what happened online after he married Pepe Aguilar’s daughter,” he said firmly.
He also revealed several instances in which he felt snubbed by the regional Mexican singer: “At the Latin Grammys, he asked that I not interview him on the red carpet. I’ve never done anything to Pepe Aguilar in my life (…) Then I see him eating at a restaurant, he’s right there, and he doesn’t even say hello,” he lamented.
